Windows Live Mail beta
May 5th
Well, being adventurous I decided to take the hint being thrown at Hotmail and switch over to using the Windows Live Mail beta. My first impression was that it looked way cool (it does – in an Outlook Express fashion – right down to the preview pane). The second was asking why it wasn’t working on Firefox (I was begging for that I suppose
), the third was to start swearing when I couldn’t copy any email text to another application. That was a…bump. Sitting there with a page of text I needed to paste into a file for forwarding, and unable to copy it. I figured out that using the Edit->Copy command from IE’s menu works where right-clicking and CTRL+C failed. In fact you can’t seem to right click on any email text…
Soundly defeated, I am gracefully withdrawing to a more Hotmail like experience of clicking checkboxes and managing folders… It was almost nice while it lasted. I am now happy to report I am back on Ubuntu pretending I never used IE for the first time in…well…a long time.
Hotmail still does not work on Firefox incidentally (the original reason for using IE…). Anyone know if MS are going to block it and give us a “bad browser” warning message like a few years back? Ugh…
