PEAR OpenID support packages released

Great, look forward for a OpenID_Consumer and Server in PEAR as I have plans to implement a Single-Sign-On for some of our internal websites.

Great idea, but have you read any of the latest on the OpenID mailing list? A few key things will be different in the next spec release.

I have the spec/general/other lists all aggregated up for reading (as a lurker ) – so I keep a daily tab on the issues raised since Draft 12. A lot of it, not to be downgrading, is not a huge deal from a developer’s perspective – so long as the main body of our source code is in place, Draft12+ changes are tiny brush-ups in comparison.

I do look forward to seeing a Final spec though . Less jumping around between drafts!

Cool, I’m a PHP dev, and have been thinking about writing some general OpenID modules, but, because have avoided it mainly due to the fact that the ‘DiffieHellman’ doesn’t have native support. Hopefully this will simplify things.

PHP 5.3 should, per Dmitry Stogov carry a new openssl extension version which has native support for DiffieHellman – this will avoid requiring bcmath (which is unbelievably slow in calculating DiffieH keys) or gmp (which is rarely available by default). Both the PEAR Crypt_DiffieHellman package and upcoming ZF Zend_Crypt (which I’m committing to svn during the week) support this.
